Learn to Make a Handmade Roman Blind

In this workshop, you will be taught how to make your very own hand sewn roman blind. From measuring the window to sewing the blind.

You will leave the workshop with a skill set enabling you to make any sized roman blind and come away with a sample sized blind of your own that you can refer to again and again.

Foundational machine and hand sewing skills are required for this workshop

Come and learn a new craft in a relaxed, friendly environment. Our brand new studio space is located opposite our city centre store in the heart of Cornwall.

Skill Level:Beginner to Intermediate

Class Duration: Saturday 22nd April 9.30am - 4pm

You will learn:

- How to measure your window

- How to measure and cut your fabric

- The preparation of lining and face fabrics

- How to pattern match (face fabric depending)

- How to attach linings to face fabric

- Sewing on Velcro and rings

- How to cord your blind

- Safety considerations

- Roman blind headrail options

You will need:

Tools:

- Sewing machine in good working order

-Fabric scissors

- Hand sewing needles

- Meter Rule

- Set Square

-Pins

- Thimble (optional)

Materials:

-1 meter of facing fabric

-Matching thread

- All other materials are included in the workshop

About your tutor:

Jess has been making lampshades professionally for around 8 years.

She started out by running her own business where she made children’s soft furnishings, lampshades and accessories before joining the Truro Fabrics team in March 2016 where she creates all of the beautiful made to order lampshades for our customers.
